TRAINING AIM:

Provide attendees with an understanding of the extent of Construction Legislation.

LEARNING OBJECTIVES:

Provide attendees with an understanding of the Legislation that applies to all parties involved in Construction and provide them with the information needed to understand their duties and responsibilities.

COURSE OUTLINE:

1. Summary of current Acts and Regulations

2. Who are specified under the Regulations?

a. This would cover the definitions for ‘construction’ ‘projects’ ‘contractors’ ‘designers’, etc.
b. It will show many that works they carry out and assumed were exempt, are actually covered under the Regulations

3. Brief review of the Client duties under the Regulations.

4. The Contractor as a Designer and the Duties of the Designer:

5. Appointments; Notification; Roles of PSDP and PSCS, etc.:
a. Will look at the need for Preliminary H&S Plans; Notification of Projects to the Authorities;
b. When are PSDP and PSCS needed?

6. PSDP and PSCS: What do they do? Who can take these roles? Overview roles; Overview deliverables.

7. Duties of the Contractor: a. As an Employer: i. General duties of Designers; Duties relating to Construction; Hazards and Risks; Safety Statement; Others as appropriate b. As a Contractor: i. Providing information; Safety File; Compliance with the Regulations; General

• Over 12 years experience in Course Development and Training.
• Co-developer and Trainer for the original ACEI/Engineers Ireland/RIAI DSC course.
• Member of the NSAI WG3218 working committee that develops and maintains the I.S.3218 Standard.
• Member of the NSAI WG3217 working committee that develops and maintains the I.S.3217 Standard.

COURSE DURATION:

The course is a half-day duration running from 09:00 to 12:30

ASSESSMENT AND CERTIFICATION:

There is no assessmant for this course. A Cerrificate of Attandance from PCCE Training can be provided.
