PCCE Training News
NEW 1-day Emergency Lighting course - EL2
The improved and revised I.S.3217 Emergency Lighting standard was released in late December 2013. PCCE Training is now releasing our 1-day course which will provide practical and detailed guidance to the Standard. This Standard and its application has been the subject of much confusion and this course is developed to address these issues. Paul Condron who has developed and will deliver the course has over 40 years of Emergency Lighting design experience and has been a member of the I.S.3217 standards committee for almost 4 yearsFDAS Service Provider courses – F3
Service Provider courses are now scheduled for Cork on October 13/14 and we are also planning dates in Portlaoise; Kilkenny and Dublin in October/November.The recent Dublin course was fully booked and very successful. Our Register of successful attendees will go on-line shortly.
Half-day day I.S.3218:2013 Update Courses – F6
The first set of half-day I.S.3218 Update course were successfully rolled out around the country. We are getting requests for further courses and at present intend holding courses in Cork, Dublin and Portlaoise. We do not have dates finalised but please provide us with expressions of interest and we will follow up with firm dates.Designing for Safety in Construction – LG2
This is a new intensive 1-day course based on the joint ECEI/Engineers Ireland/RIAI Designing for Safety in Construction Guidelines for Permanent Works Designers. This course provides practical guidance to Permanent Works Designers in respect of their duties and obligations and how best to address these to be compliant with the requirements of the Safety, Health and Welfare at Work Act 2005 and the 2013 Construction Regulations. This course has been successfully given to some 60 Designers in an ongoing programme for one of Ireland’s leading Engineering Consultancies.Training Course Awards
PCCE Training has always made the point on all of our courses that attendance and even the achievement of a successful award from any course – whether from a State or private Educational Institution or from a private Training Provider and regardless of the National Framework Qualification (NFQ) course level, will not of itself indicate competence of the attending party. PCCE Training will go so far as stating that any training organisation that makes such a statement is grossly irresponsible and should be avoided. A successful Training Course will provide the knowledge-base for the subject that will allow attendees to develop their competence through the practical application of this knowledge. All applicable Course Certificates and Awards should of course be used as elements to demonstrate competence.PCCE News
There is significant feedback from both the Fire and Rescue Service and many of PCCE Training attendees about the lack of understanding by Users of their responsibilities in respect of both FDAS and Emergency Lighting. PCCE Training has a series of courses aimed at addressing this problem. As we are approaching the Training ‘silly season’, it is difficult to schedule courses in the immediate future. However, we have been approached regarding such courses in the South East; North West and Dublin. We would like to hear from you if you would like us to deliver such a course in your area.
Paul Condron has successfully completed the joint ACEI (Association of Consulting Engineers of Ireland)/ Engineers Ireland/ Garland - PSDP (Project Supervisor for the Design Process) Course. My Certificate is now included here on the website.
PCCE Consulting has just completed a major preliminary design and costings study for multiple Fire Suppression Systems in a critical Energy Installation.
PCCE Consulting is in the process of completing the review; updating and recertification of a major Sports Centre FDAS installation.
Following the completion of several studies of FDAS installations in Apartment buildings, PCCE Training developed a course Fire Safety in Apartment Buildings which was very successful in Dublin and will be rolled out in other venues after the Summer.
