About the training

Fire safety and construction legislation form the legal framework that governs building safety, risk management, and compliance requirements. Understanding these regulations is crucial for engineers, facility managers, and safety officers responsible for ensuring that buildings meet Irish fire safety and workplace compliance standards. This course provides a clear and practical overview of key legal requirements, including fire safety certificates, employer obligations, and life safety responsibilities. Participants will gain valuable insights into fire prevention laws, health and safety legislation, and how to navigate regulatory processes effectively. By the end of the course, attendees will be equipped with the knowledge to implement legally compliant safety measures in a range of building environments.

This intensive 1-day course is based on the DSC Practical Guide for Permanent Works Designers, developed by J. Kavanagh, Chartered Engineer, for professional bodies. The course is designed to suit a general, mixed-discipline group, but it can also be tailored for:

  • LG2_SC – Structural/Civil
  • LG2_FME – Facilities/Building Services

While DSC courses traditionally focused on large, multi-discipline projects, there is now an emphasis on making the principles of DSC accessible and applicable to smaller projects and areas like Facilities Management and Building Services.

Training Aim:
