PCCE COMMENT: Certification/Records on projects spanning new and old FDAS standards

There is no transition guidance provided in I.S.3218:2024.

As long as the Fire Safety Certificate (FSC) states that the FDAS is to be in accordance with I.S.3218:2013+A1:2019, my opinion is as follows:

  1. Design and Install to the old standard – I.S.3218:2013+A1:2019
  2. Commission; Acceptance (Handover); Service and User Responsibilities to be as I.S.3218:2024 format. This does not mean that elements that were NOT required under I.S.3218:2013+A1:2019 (but are now under I.S.3218:2024) would be considered as Deviations. They will simply be noted as not having been required under the previous standard
  3. Once the FSC dictates I.S.3218:2024, this standard must be applied to all actions
